I’m an osteoarchaeologist who specialises in human remains. I teach about death and burial rites across cultures and through time. My other research interests include the study of ancient diet & disease, gender and the dead, Memento Mori, ethics of human remains for study and display, and Calavera art.

As someone who has been working in museums and archaeology for several years, the goal of my blog is to discuss death and death rituals through research, interviews, and general musings from an anthropological and archaeological perspective.

Outreach is really important to me and I enjoy working with the public through lectures, festivals, altar projects, cultural events, and teaching. The views are my own here!

I’ve done fieldwork in Peru, Ireland, the Southwest US, California, and Baja California. The human remains collections I have researched and curated are from all over the globe.
